I am a former special education teacher, a retired homeschooler, mother of two teen sons, and a wife of 23 years. My goal as a counselor is to connect with clients where they are today and help them pursue their goals for wholeness and wellness. My approach emphasizes the interaction among thoughts, feelings, and actions as well as the connection of mind, body, and spirit. My experience as an educator and homeschooler has equipped and inspired me to work with children, adolescents, and their families who are facing a variety of life’s challenges. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, a National Certified Counselor, a member of the American Counselor Association and the American Association for Christian Counselors.
NOTE: Not taking new clients at this time.
Each of us has a story. So often, that story is one filled with pain and brokenness. It is my passion to come alongside those who are hurting, journeying with them towards healing. Since earning my degree in counseling ministry in 2001, I have had the privilege of going on this journey with people in various life stages, struggling with a various life issues. I seek to minister to the hurt and broken with compassion and integrity, honoring the story they share along the way. In my work with clients, I draw from a range of interventions, all the while valuing the collaborative relationship so necessary for healing and growth.
I am a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I have worked with victims of trauma, specifically sexual violence, for several years. I have experience working alongside college students, as well as adolescents and adults. I am passionate about helping others navigate through the trauma healing process by providing a trauma-focused therapy approach. I believe healing is possible, and at times people need assistance as they are in the healing journey. I am here to support and guide an individual throughout their journey.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have worked in the mental health and addictions field for over six years. I attended Grace College and Theological Seminary where I received my Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have worked with families, married couples, college students, as well as individuals suffering from mental illness and addiction. I love helping people seek spiritual, emotional, and relational wholeness using the psychological techniques that God created and outlined in Scripture. I am also a husband to my loving wife and father to my four amazing children.
I am a licensed clinical social worker and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. I have worked in the field of mental health and addictions for over a decade. I work with adults, couples, and adolescents over the age of 13. I practice from the standpoint that the client is the expert, and I get the privilege of assisting in reaching the individual’s goals. I achieve this by teaching skills, educating, and partnering with the client as they process. The evidenced-based practices I use most often include Mindfulness skills, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused. I also believe it is my top priority to provide an environment that is non-judgemental, respectful and transparent. May you be blessed on your journey.
Life. Freedom. Wholeness. These were words that kept ringing in my soul because I was hungry to experience them in my life. I thought the way to experience them was to know and do all the “right” things. With this as my goal and intention, I fully expected to experience God’s love and acceptance in greater abundance; to sense aliveness in my relationship with God. Instead, what I felt was shame and condemnation since I never could get it “right” or know enough about God to truly experience Him personally. I also found that I was weary. This weariness of soul turned out to be a gift because it led me to ask important questions like this one, “Is there more to God and this life of faith than what I am currently experiencing?”
Diving into this question launched an ongoing journey, a process of developing a deeper relational life-with-God, self, and others than I ever thought was possible. I embarked on this deeper journey toward God through the process of spiritual formation and the ministry of spiritual direction. What I discovered along the way is that there is more to life-with-God, there is real transformation available, there is freedom, and wholeness to experience in all our relationships. I found healing in my own identity and in my image of who God is and how he calls me to be in relationship with Him. I also discovered my passion and call to help others begin or renew this spiritually transformative journey in their own life.
With a master’s degree in Spiritual Formation and Leadership and as a certified Spiritual Director with Enneagram training, I am prepared to walk with you as you take the next step on your journey toward transformation in Christ so that you can experience more life, freedom, and wholeness.
I am delighted to share my life with my husband of over 20 years and two teenage boys. I love connecting with God and others through His Word, creation, life stories, worship and a good cup a coffee.
